A comment about NAFTA, this trade agreement did not destroy the small mexican farmer. Mexico imports corn from the US because Mexico only produces half of the corn needed to feed the chickens and hogs. The mexican gov is trying to move the population from a tortilla diet to more meat and vegetables. Mexico does not import large amounts of white corn from the US. The US sells more corn to Japan than to Mexico. Mexico stopped subsidizing small corn farmers at the request of the world bank who held the notes that Mexico could not pay. NAFTA costs US tax payers lots of money and many of us would like for it to end.
