The paramilitary trappings were unnecessary. But why doesn't this press release mention the fact that the raid targeted counterfeiters? Do we really want to defend people engaged in fraud and identity theft? Doesn't this perpetuate negative stereotypes about the undocumented - i.e., that they're engaging in illegal activities that hurt legal U.S. residents? Let's not get our ideology cloud our perception of the facts.
