some open proposals:
first, the deaths on friday have been used as excuses for the federales to invade oaxaca and repress the revolt, even tho the martyrs were all on the side of the revolt. this should be a central theme in any press work, demonstration, etc.
second, perhaps the consulate shouldnt be the only focus of pressure. if it is true that the PRIistas are among the participants in the death squad-like actions that murdered brad will and the other martyrs, perhaps local representatives of the PRI should also feel some pressure and be called to answer for the violence of their partisans.
third, some have proposed that the united states government be called in to demand something of mexico. while this is a dubious proposal, it can have some impact on issues ranging from the official investigation to the possibility of at least local US officials demanding an end to the repression of the oaxaca demonstrations and revolt.
fourth, if brad is from evanston, is his family based here? has anyone seen if they need anything that activists can provide?
fifth, what is the perspective of local teachers' groups on the revolt?
