It was a strong enough continuation of a series of protests organized principally by the Metropolitan Tenants Organization which included a 120+ person march this past Saturday to Harold Washington Park and a press conference rally on Monday. At least 40 people came out, mostly from the Woodlawn area, though the rally was moved to the 2nd floor in order to be visible to aldermen and news media as they came out of a City Council meeting. Several news media outlets conducted interviews with residents who have recieved shorter-than-legal notice to vacate their homes or are watching as HUD-controlled housing falls into conscious disrepair.
Also present were some of the usual rabble rousers, along with members of STOP, Community Of Uptown Residents for Affordability & Justice (COURAJ), and other allied groups.
