Colinists? Are we once again going to try to compare these times with those of hundreds of years ago? Please remember that our ancesters had to go thru hell to get situated here in the States without having their hands out looking for that free ride! I have NO problem at all with those people who choose to come to this country and assimilate themselves to OUR system of Law and Economy. BUT without the govt.checking these people by getting them registered we leave ourselves open to another disaster such as 9/11.If they choose to not register and are found out, they don't deserve amnesty they deserve to leave this country and let those who are honest do what they need to do so as to provide for their familys and community
I totally agree with original comments. What are the media thinking with the comment "We are trying to criminalize the illegals"? They are illegal and that means it is a crime. Are they even listening to themselves? The people who worked hard to become US citizens should be so angry that the illegals are here and expecting to march to legalization. This country needs to come together and have some pride.
Wow- if you had any knowledge of how corrupt and ineffective our immigration system is, you wouldn't be taking this stance. I find that most people with this opinion have no idea what immigrants have to do to get- or even keep, thier legal status. The only ones that can really afford to come here legally and not wait an excess of two years are often times criminals who have the money to pay the expected bribe demanded by the AMERICAN CONSOLATE in thier country. Please, feel free to find out more about indefinate imprisonment without justice, jury or deportation for the children who are brought here without paper. How would you like to be in prison for your entire life just because your parents had a dream?
We can't possible compare these times with those of hundres of years ago. Obviously! But please remember that our ancestors did not "assimilate" to the Indian culture that was here before anyone else. What did they do? They tried to bring in their religion and beliefs to my Indian ancestors. Also, in case you have forgotten these "Mexicans" were here in this land before any European settlers came to this land. Please let's not be ingnorant about the past and really acknowledge the facts.
The vast majority of Mexicans are Mestizos and, thus, a result of the Conquista. They weren't here "before" the other Europeans came. Please let's not be ingnorant about the past and really acknowledge the facts. ;)
