Re: Si, se puede! - Chicago Witnesses Massive Protest for Immigrant Rights

If we are going to make common people criminals, why don't we start with all the people that are addicted to illegal drugs. The last time I looked it is against the law to buy illegal drugs. So are we also going to pass a law that would make anyone who is addicted to drugs and all their family members criminals?

Where is the outrage in illegal drugs that kill and destroy families? Why is this not an immportant issue? Would we not be saving lives and keeping families together?

I don't think the originator of this bill is putting his best foot forward. On one hand you have Mexicans (Latinos) coming to America for a better life, working hard, that is why they are in such high demand. Making every effort to keep their families together, keeping their kids in school.

Then we have the drug addicts, and the drug dealers, who kill people, destroy lives, breaks up families, abuse children, and cause the state millions from foster care, social services, jail, prison, probation, parole.

So we are focusing on which one of these problems? If this is not racism, I don't know what is.

I ask all the Latinos to unite in the next election and defeat any politician who has agreed with this bill and send a message loud and clear, we will take you out of office and keep out out!

Haven't you heard of the DEA and the war on drugs. Our prisons are filled with those people. We have prisons, officers, courts, etc to take care of citizens gone bad. Not all illegals are saints, there is a criminal problem, gangs, drugs and the usual. Bad defense of your cause.

Latinos are wanted for cheap labor, which upsets the opportunities for American citizens who work for better wages that are not offered.

Illegal means criminal, that is simple.

Racism, get for real !

Wanting legal immigration is racism.

Re: Si, se puede! - Chicago Witnesses Massive Protest for Immigrant Rights

The idea that immigrants are taking away opportunities from everone else in America is the stupidest idea ever. Only a lazy person could think it up. I get paid more at my job compared to my co-employees simply because I am bi-lingual and it helps the company.
As far as latinos being "wanted for cheap labor," we don't work harder only to expect getting paid less. Some of us might take jobs that none of you would ever dream of working, how is that taking away jobs? What do you think of American companies that pay low-wages in other companies so that you can buy your t-shirt for $15?
Do you even know what the constitution says? Can you recall the entire history of the U.S. and take a "naturalization test" to prove it?
IS AMERICAN A RACE?

YOu bring up some pretty decent points there bro, but I think your missing the biggest one (as I think alot of posters to this thread have missed)... The issue is the freeflow of illegal immigrants over our borders. I live in Texas, and work with, live next to, and have a WHOLE lot of respect for the latino community here but, I cant pretend that they didnt sneak into the country in the dead of he night.
As a "White" man, my ancestors also immigrated to this country many generations ago. The big difference is they did it legally. They passed the test you just refered to (or did what it took in thier day to make citizenship happen) and when they became citizens, they didnt march in the streets waving the flag of another country trying to convince everyone here how much they wanted to stay... there are idiots on BOTH side of this argument, and that includes the latino... if you are an american, it would seem to me you would be appalled by the way many (and by many I mean ALOT) of the latino community is expressing themselves... take a look at this philvalentine.com/ or this www.michellemalkin.com/archives/004869.htm
Flying the U.S. flag upside down below the mexican flag, so you can convince the rest of the United States that you want to be here?... wow... Im no redneck, and as I have already stated I respect the Mexican culture (and other latino cultures) greatly. The dedication to family and god, the work ethic, the long historical significance of the latino peoples, are all awesome things... but when I see that, all I can say is BRING IT!!!
