One thing that struck me was that the prosecution and judge seemed to have an agreed upon spin on Patterson's community support: that there are supposedly "two faces" to Aaron. They say that Aaron puts on a good face for community events, but in private reverts to being "Ranger," an arch-criminal ganglord. There has clearly been some planning on their part about how to play this whole thing, and they clearly did some strategizing about how to combat the massive support that Aaron has in the community.
