I participated in both the March 20 and 21 marches in 2003. I was very happy with the turnout, courage and diversity of the assembled marchers. However, I urge the organizers to strongly disavow and attempt, if possible, to exclude anyone wearing a mask. I feel that young men in black and wearing masks (ala "battle for Seattle") is the very image which the media swarms to and uses to discredit the movement as a whole. In addition, it is inheritly provocative and gives the police a pretext to intefere. I will continue to support your action but please consider adressing this matter this March 20.
If you who are reading this are such an "angry young man" consider being a "brave young man" and show your face and be counted rather than hiding behind a what is ultimately a mere pose.
