Protest should be organized around this!

I do not live in Chicago or even within Illinois, but I really think that the Chicago community should organize a serious protest around this sentence, it is outrageous!

Also:

"If I believed that sending Anthony Abbate to prison would stop people from getting drunk and hitting other people, I'd sentence him to the maximum," the judge said. "But I don't believe that is the case."

Well Mr. Judge, a stiff sentence might not send a message to drunks who attack women in bars, but maybe it will to the cops. That message might be: 'You are not above the law, and if you violently attack people, you will go to prison. Wether you are on duty or off.' But of course in reality, true justice like that rarely happens. Another sad chapter of police brutality in America and the injustice that follows.

Re: Protest should be organized around this!

This Friday there is a demonstration against the Fraternal Order of Police as they have a "1968 Riot Cop Reunion." I would imagine/hope that people there will express outrage at continued abuse by police, including this ridiculous sentence and the recent bogus acquittal of the other off-duty cops who attacked someone at a bar
