January 18, 2001

Dear Friends of the Guatemalan People:

May this season bless you and those near you with warmth and hope for a future with social justice and peace. Casa Guatemala raises approximately 50% of its annual budget from a single event: our annual dinner. We also take this opportunity to bring attention to the outstanding work that five individuals in the Chicago area have dedicated themselves to: the struggle for the human rights of the Latino community in Chicago and the people of Guatemala, by presenting them with our Human Rights Awards. This year marks the 11h anniversary of this event, and is also the 52st anniversary of the declaration of human rights in the UN. This is also the last year I will serve as Director of Casa Guatemala. For these reasons we are making special efforts to make this years dinner a memorable one.

We are writing to invite you to attend this gala event. Tickets are $25.00 each or you can buy a table that seats 10, for $200.00. If you are interested please call Casa Guatemala at (773) 334-9101 and reserve your tickets today!

Please find underneath information on the date and time of the event. Thank you for all of your assistance and solidarity! Please call me if you have any questions or comments, we appreciate your heartfelt support to the Guatemalan community.

Sincerely,

José L. Oliva
Executive Director
