March 22-23: 2 Defend Our Rights-Free Rabih Haddad Rallies this weekend!

This Friday and Saturday nights Chicagoans will rally in defense of civil liberties and against the racial profiling of Arabs, Muslims and South Asians. Emblematic of the attacks on our rights is the continued imprisonment of Pastor Rabih Haddad without charges, without bail, and without any evidence produced against him.
Defend Our Rights!

Stop the USA/Patriot Act!

Free Rabih Haddad!

Late last week the Global Relief Foundation (GRF), the charitable organization co-founded by Haddad, became one of the first targets of the "USA/Patriot Act," with the federal government asking a judge to allow it to introduce "secret evidence" against GRF. Like so many aspects of the nightmare the Haddad family is enduring, this is a basic violation of the Bill of Rights - the right to face one's accuser in open court before a jury of one's peers.

The cruel irony is that in February the US Attorney for Northern District, Patrick Fitzgerald, informed the attorneys for Haddad and Global Relief Foundation that neither Haddad nor GRF were targets of criminal investigations. Yet Rabih Haddad and hundreds of others remain imprisoned without charges, and the vital humanitarian work of GRF in places like Palestine and Chechnya is frozen due to US arrogance.

Please join us and community activists from around Chicago to protest these injustices at solidarity rallies this weekend:
