Alliance-Philippines (AJLPP)Participates in March 20 US-Wide Anti War Protests

Los Angeles- STOP THE WAR, BRING OUR TROOPS HOME, NOW!

The Alliance-Philippines (AJLPP) forces in Los Angeles, Washington DC and San Francisco joined the mass protests led by International ANSWER in these major cities on the anniversary of the 7th year of the US led war of aggression against Iraq and Afghanistan last Saturday, March 20, 2010.

--In Washington DC, joint PSL and AJLPP-NY-NJ groups marched with more than 10,000 anti-war protestors in the national mall. The AJLPP forces were bussed from the cities of New York, New Jersey and they were joined by activists from the metro Washington-Maryland and Virginia areas.

--In Los Angeles, almost a hundred AJLPP and AFFIRM-GABNET forces joined forces with more than 6,000 activists to protest the war. The large AFFIRM-GABNET contingent wore black and carried purple AFFIRM flags held a large banner saying: WOMEN ARE COLLATERAL DAMAGE TO WAR.

Meanwhile, the KmB contingent held a banner saying NO TO US LED WAR OF IMPERIALIST AGGRESSION. They also had a chariot mounted by the present US president Obama going to war drawn by “nation slaves”ins in chains like Haiti, Venezuela, Philippines Afghanistan, Palestine and Iraq to dramatize the unjust US wars of aggressions.

KmB officer Mark Ramos spoke at the beginning rally denouncing the budget cuts against education, the job loss and the billions spend on the wars. At the end rally, KmB member and rapper artist BAMBU regaled the crowd with his protest rap music.

AFFIRM Organizing Director Ivy Quicho who spoke at the end rally said: “ militant women will not go away and will oppose this unjust war that victimizes women and children.”

Media Blackout

-- In San Francisco, the JFAV/AWARE contingent joined the 5,000 protestors in a rally at the San Francisco Civic Center and expressed their opposition to the war and read their position paper demanding benefits. Asking the question, why no money for the widows and veterans but there is trillions for the unjust wars, the JFAV/AWARE drew applause from the crowd.

There was an evident news black-out on the Saturday protests.Evidently absent in the rallies were thee bourgeois news media focused on the health care debate voting on the US Congress.
