Housing activists demand answers, board remains silent

Chicago housing activists attending February 19 CHA Board of Directors meeting demand to know where displaced residents are going. Board members remain unconcerned with public's input because it is not their concern. Members listen, then take break until activists leave.
e question should be answered. "It's an urgent question," interjected Rene Maxwell.

Luster Jackson continued. "Most of us can tell you what happened to them [the residents]. They are scattered all over the country. They're in the southern suburbs, they're on the streets, living in shelters."

Jackson advised the board that if they were unable to answer reasonable questions then they are going to have problems when the questions become more unreasonable.

The board still had no response and closed the microphone to public input. The members recessed to closed session and waited for the activists to leave.
