PRESS RELEASE

For immediate release:

The nationally-recognized punk band, Against Me will play a benefit concert for the Harvest of Hope Foundation on Thanksgiving Day, November 22nd at 6:30 pm at the Metro at 3730 North Clark Street in Chicago. Funds raised will help Harvest of Hope to provide emergency and educational financial aid to migrant farmworkers and their families around the country. Because of their transient lifestyle and work hazards, migrant farmworkers and their families are among the most disadvantaged and at-risk populations in the United States. Harvest of Hope provides direct support to this population to help with medical problems, education, transportation issues, food and housing.

Against Me (www.againstme.net) is known for their distinct, heavy folk-influenced sound and energetic live shows. This summer, Against Me released their major label debut album, “New Wave” on Sire Records. Their song “Thrash Unreal” recently entered the top twenty on the Alternative Radio charts.

This will be the second benefit by Against Me for the Harvest of Hope Foundation. In August in the band’s hometown of Gainesville, Florida, a sold out show raised $3,900 for Harvest of Hope. The Foundation was established in 1997 and has distributed more than $574,000 in direct aid to migrant farmworkers and their families.

Other performers for the Chicago benefit include Sage Francis, Cobra Skulls and World/Inferno Friendship Society.
