Former public housing tenants from New Orleans and Allies from around the country have occupied the department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to demand the reopening of public housing in New Orleans. The local HUD office in N.O. has prevented low income blacks from returning to thousands of perfectly good housing units. Former public housing residents are calling on HUD to reopen public housing, the right to return, and to stop racially exclusive polices.
