Chicago S26 Banner Drop

September 26, 2000. At approximately 8 am this morning, members of the Chicago Direct Action Network dropped a large anti-corporate banner over North Lakeshore Drive to greet all the morning commuters entering downtown.

In solidarity with the protests against the IMF meetings in Prague, the sign reads:

END CORPORATE RULE:
THE PROTESTERS
ARE RIGHT!

GLOBALIZE THAT.

The 10' x 12' sign was dropped over the North Ave walking bridge and remained hanging for almost 30 minutes before being removed by authorities. Although the digital images are not publishing quality, they have been posted to illustrate the rising tide of activism spreading through Chicago. (the bottom right portion of the banner was untangled following the photo)

During rush hour traffic, thousands of cars pass under that bridge every hour.

Power to the People!
