It has long been said that in war truth is the first casualty, and I would be inclined to agree with this assessment. Given that we have seen more than 3,000 US dead and 40,000 wounded to combine with over 650,000 Iraqi dead yielding a Congress that musters merely non-binding resolutions I would have to say that the truth is spinning in its grave!

This is why I would like to invite IVAW members to Washington DC for the start of the 5th year of this war where we will hold Operation First Casualty (OFC). OFC will be a series of street theatre events strategically place around the DC metro area in order to shine a clear light to congress that the war is real and it must end NOW!

This is a serious event and will put our experiences front and center, as the nation has never seen. It will be intense and treated like a military operation though we will use NO WEAPONS WHAT SO EVER! OFC will be staged in full military uniform but we must always remember that it is a non-violent protest aimed at resurrecting our first casualty. OFC will be mentally stressful and may trigger a lot of PTSD so I would ask anyone who reads this to think long and hard before signing up.

We will however be conducting a Vets 4 Vets that evening. OFC will begin with a training day on Sunday March 18, 2007. There we will practice and work with our civilian counterparts.

Day two will be the Anniversary of the war and we will conduct ground operations in DC.

Day three will be Tuesday March 20, 2007 when we will again take to the hill this time in an attempt to talk with our representatives in the House and Senate.

IVAW is now taking the reigns of the peace movement and in so doing we have the opportunity to steer the country to a place where Truth is never again sacrificed to the devils of war. OFC will be a large step in that but we will need all of your help!
