Bush tells 60 Minutes 'no matter what Congress wants' surge is on

In an interview set to air on this Sunday's 60 Minutes, President George W. Bush said that he was determined to send an additional 21,500 troops to Iraq regardless of any opposition by the Democratic-controlled Congress.
In an excerpt of a CBS 60 Minutes interview released Friday, Bush said he believes he has the authority to send additional troops "no matter what Congress wants."

"They could try to stop me from doing it, but I have made my decision and we are going forward," Bush said.

Bush announced his new plan for Iraq Wednesday, in a speech to the nation, which calls for an increase in US troops to end ongoing violence in the country. The plan has drawn fire from Democrats and some members of Bush's own Republican party.
