On Monday, August 28, 7 PM Revolution Books will host a presentation and discussion by photo-journalist Li Onesto to mark the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Onesto will present her photo essay, Still Winter in New Orleans, depicting post-Katrina New Orleans. She will discuss the responsibility of the Bush administration for suffering, destruction, and death in the wake of Katrina, and the need for a massive mobilization to drive out the Bush Regime on October 5th.

In April of this year, Onesto traveled to New Orleans and documented the damage, government neglect, and grassroots rebuilding efforts in a powerful series of photographs. Her review of Spike Lee's HBO documentary, When The Levees Broke, appears in the current issue of Revolution newspaper (revcom.us/a/058/katrina-levee-breaks-lee-en.htm). Onesto's book Dispatches From the People's War in Nepal has been translated in part or in full into Hindi, Nepali, German, French, Chinese, Vietnamese, Danish, Italian, and Spanish. Her photographs have been displayed in galleries in several cities in the U.S. and internationally.
