Wednesday August 2
Event: Free Screening and Discussion of^SDr. Strangelove, Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

The Conscientious Projector is showing Stanley Kubrick's brilliant, satirical, provocative black comedy/fantasy regarding doomsday and Cold War politics that
features an accidental, inadvertent, pre-emptive nuclear attack.

The current situation makes the Cold War seem like the good old days. Forty years ago danger from nuclear weapons seemed to come from madmen acting
unilaterally or technology gone awry. Now that threat is real. As the number of countries with nuclear capabilities grow so does our concern for the safety of
the planet. The United States has hinted that if pushed far enough it would use nuclear weapons as a tool for the war on terror!

February 1971, one month after the revelations of the My Lai massacre, an astonishing public inquiry into war crimes committed by American forces in Vietnam
was held in Detroit. More than 100 veterans spoke of atrocities they had witnessed and committed. The Winter Soldier hearings showed the tremendous power of
GI's speaking out and marked a turning point in the anti-war movement.

Event: Book discussion - Preaching from a Pulpit of Bones. Why We Need Morality, But Not Traditional Morality

Join Revolution Books in discussing Bob Avakian's treatment of the volatile subject of morality. The moral crisis that is part of the acute polarization in
this country demands our attention, reflection and debate. What historic transformations in society have evoked this crisis? What is the biblical source of
the narrow and hateful brand of Christianity found in the works of people like William Bennett? What is the path of unity-struggle-unity that can bring
together progressive believers and nonbelievers to defeat this Christian fascism? How does a communist morality stand up to a biblical-based morality? Finally,
can we be good, true, alert, alive , interior, creative, and awe struck without God?

ONGOING EVENTS

The Peace Museum is working on an endeavor "PEACE 2005". ?The museum will be offering patrons the opportunity to donate a peace crane to honor a friend, loved
one or colleague. Peace cranes will be suspended from the ceiling in our gallery, creating a colorful wall. The 1000 colorful cranes will create a "wall of
hope" for peace in 2005 in our gallery. Once we accumulate 1000 paper cranes, we will send the cranes to a hospital in Iraq. This will be a symbolic gesture to
the Iraqi people to demonstrate that we share in their wish for peace. Peace cranes may be purchased online by visiting www.peacemuseum.org and clicking
