Beaten to death by 3 cops the morning of 1/14/2002 in Robert Taylor
Homes, Chicago.

Phil Hayes, 40, leaves behind 11 children, and 17 brothers & sisters.
Witnesses describe how phil was confronted by the cops, assumed "the
position" against the wall, without any resistance. He had been arrested
3 weeks prior at which time police threw him down a flight a stairs and
threatened him, according to family members. Witnesses say he was
choked, kicked, and then choked some more. Police told his significant
other he had tried to "swallow some drugs". Knowing better, she opened
the ambulance and saw him covered in blood. An autopsy is underway.
Family members are reportedly angry and seek justice.
