Protests against the far-right in Poland

The last week saw a gay pride parade and occupation of the Ministry of Education. There were arrests and clashes with fascists. The right is looking to start repressions.
The Gay Pride parade, (known as the Equality Parade) is usually attacked by far right skinheads. For the last two years it was banned by now President Kaczynski. (Both he and his vice-president got pied for this.) Last year, it went anyway in a huge civil disobedience.

This year, the parade was also attacked, but not too strongly, in part due to the presence of a large pink and black bloc. However, at the end of the parade, there were some altercations and police began to arrest people. One German who was arrested has been in jail since Saturday and is being denied due process. He hasn't been allowed to see a lawyer and we suspect that this is because he may have been beaten. The police claim that he beat a policeman, which is reality is the charge they usually lay on people when they start beating demonstrators and somebody pushes the police off of them.

It looks as if this activist will face serious charges.

The fascistic Mlodziez Wszechpolska has asked the state prosecutor to open more cases against "the Black Bloc" in general whom they falsely claimed "attacked passerbys and citizens of Warsaw". As "proof" of this, they have one photograph of an altercation with a known nationalist, anti-semitic nut job who was agressively counterdemonstrating with a group of far-right extremists and, as far as we know, may have been the agressor in the situation.

The League of Polish Families is the parent group of the All-Polish Youth (Mlodziez Wszechpolska), and their leader, a far-right ideologue became the Minister of Education. There have been protests all over Poland for the past month. On Tuesday, June 13, radical and anarchist high school students called for a strike and occupied the Ministry of Education for over an hour before the police came and arrested them and drove away the crowd of students supporting them outside the gates. 18 people were arrested but all have been released.
