Across Latin America, social movements and leftist parties are organizing resistance to U.S. intervention and the imposition of globalization, privatization, and free “trade” agreements CAFTA that have led to more poverty and inequality. Meanwhile, the response of the U.S. has been to support increased militarization and repression. Come hear about how leftist movements and new programs like the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA) are making it possible to envision social transformation through the Americas.

Hacia una alternativa progresista en América Latina: Desde Venezuela a El Salvador

Por toda América Latina, movimientos sociales y partidos de izquierda están organizando la resistencia a la intervención de Estados Unidos y la imposición de la globalización, la privatización y tratados de libre comercio como el CAFTA, en inglés que han llevado a una mayor pobreza y desigualdad en la región. Mientras tanto, los EEUU ha respondido apoyando el escalamiento de la represión y la militarización.
