Join Cicero Day Laborers in Solidarity Against the Minutemen

at Cicero Home Depot, 26th & Cicero Ave.

Home Depot, the DiMucci Development Corporation, and Cicero Police spent the summer and fall of 2005 arresting nearly 50 day laborers who have met contractors in the company's parking lot for the past ten years. Now, the Minutemen are targeting the same day laborers as well. The "Minutemen," a nation-wide anti-immigrant vigilante group, plans to go to the day laborer hiring site at the Home Depot parking lot to intimidate workers and scare off employers.

However, its not new. Workers have been facing fear and harassment from Home Depot and the Cicero police for months. Yet workers continue to meet contractors because it is a necessity and a tradition, ten years old. It is the way families are provided for and it is the way Cicero and Chicago are built.

"We are Not Criminals. We are Workers.
And we will not be intimidated
by Home Depot, the Police, or the Minutemen!"


Please join our peaceful defense and celebration on Saturday morning. Day laborers and our supporters will be speaking out against the Minutemen attacks and the on-going police harassment at the Cicero Home Depot. We will peacefully demonstrate our strength and our solidarity without confrontation.

We invite all supporters to come to ensure our community is safe from attack and to celebrate the cultures and the solidarity we bring.

We will focus on our strengths together, not on the hate and fear that racist groups like the Minutemen create.
