OPEN UNIVERSITY OF THE LEFT

Open University of the Left presents on Monday November 7, 7:00PM at Acme Art Works, 1741 N. Western Ave. Haiti, The Untold Story: A Documentary and Discussion
Independent journalist and filmmaker Kevin Pina will be with OUL to introduce and discuss his important new documentary film on the plight of the people of Haiti following the U.S. backed coup on February 29, 2004 against their popularly elected President Bertrand Aristide. Produced at great personal risk, "Haiti, the Untold Story" graphically portrays the ongoing brutal daily oppression of the Haitian people at the hands of the U.S. installed "interim" government.

Because of his honest reporting, the filmmaker was arrested and jailed by the coup authorities. He survived the ordeal only because he was an American and was fortunate enough to have others intervene to secure his release.

Following the film showing, the filmmaker will talk about his experiences in Haiti and answer questions about the current political situation there - a reality that the dominant corporate media has consistently ignored, suppressed or grossly distorted.
