Local Band Does Ecologically Responsible Tour

Local Chicago band, SHE and HE Music will do their 2006 tour in an eco-friendly ‘grease-car’. Fueled by recycled vegetable oil instead of traditional gasoline, the ‘grease car’ is not only cleaner and cheaper than traditional gasoline powered vehicles, but it is also aromatically pleasant, with some saying it smells like French fries.

“Oil prices are rising dramatically every month. We wanted to be on the road for as long as possible and maintain our commitment to being ecologically responsible. We haul a lot of stuff and we just didn’t want one more car contributing to environmental damage,” says Robert Filippo, SHE and HE Music’s guitarist and percussionist.

The band is keeping an online journal of their adventures on their website, and links to the companies that make ‘grease cars’.

Says Kristen, “People often ask us about how we feel about funding a tour with the gas prices as they are. They are totally right, the situation is becoming harder and harder to ignore. We are using alternative fuels to get our fans to thinking about our environment. We want to spread the word, raise awareness at our shows, making the music that much more rewarding.”

SHE and HE Music was founded in 2004 by Kristen Strezo and Robert Filippo, both of Chicago and will be playing at Tonik, 7247 W. Roosevelt Rd Forest Park, IL 60130, (630) 258-3131, Saturday, November 5th. Tickets are $5 and available at the door. Visit www.SHEandHEmusic.com for more information.
