Claudia M. Fegan, MD, left her successful private practice of 15 years to join Cook County's Bureau of Health Services in August of 2000. She currently serves as medical director for the Fantus Health Center, with over 300,000 patient visits a year, one of the largest outpatient clinics in the country. Prior to joining Fantus, Dr. Fegan was an attending physician at Michael Reese Hospital & Medical Center, where she served as Medical Director and as a member of the Board of Directors.

Dr. Fegan speaks extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada about the impact of Corporatization on the delivery of health care. She recently authored Universal Healthcare: What the United States Can Learn From the Canadian Experience, published by the New Press in 1998.
