WAR, POVERTY AND RACISM: TIME FOR AN ALTERNATIVE

Sunday, Nov. 5 * Chicago, IL

THE GOVERNMENT’S criminal response to Hurricane Katrina exposed the utter racism and hypocrisy of U.S. society. Claims that the U.S. is spreading "democracy" in Iraq have unraveled. More than 100,000 Iraqis and nearly 2,000 U.S. soldiers have died in the brutal occupation of Iraq.

Millions are looking for an alternative to a system that spends billions to invade and loot another country—but fails to rescue poor and Black residents of New Orleans in the wake of a natural disaster. On September 24, hundreds of thousands gave voice to that dissent marching against the war in Washington, D.C.

Come to a day of discussion and debate about today’s struggles against injustice and war, about the history of past struggles for a better world—and how a different sort of society could be organized based on human need instead of war and corporate greed.
