From the Chicago Labor for Peace, Prosperity and Justice:

Come and hear Nancy Wohlforth (AFL-CIO Executive Council), the Rev. Calvin Morris and Virginia Linares (whose son just returned from Iraq) speak at a union/community forum on Sept. 14th, at UNITE-HERE, on why we need to bring our troops home!

FORUM FOR NEW PRIORITIES

Why Ending The U.S. Occupation Is The Only Solution To The Escalating Crisis In Iraq: A Labor and Community Perspective

Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005
6:00-8:00 P.M.
UNITE-HERE Union Hall
333 S. Ashland, Chicago

NANCY WOHLFORTH
Member, AFL-CIO Executive Council; Co-Convener, U.S. Labor Against the War (USLAW); Secretary-Treasurer, Office and Professional
Employees Int'l Union (OPEIU); Co-President, Pride At Work.

(National labor leader Nancy Wohlforth was an instrumental force in the recent adoption by the AFL-CIO of a resolution calling for the rapid return of all U.S. troops from Iraq, the first time that the federation has taken a position squarely in opposition to a major U.S. foreign policy or military action. She was also a key organizer of a recent 25-city U.S. tour by top Iraqi labor leaders.)

THE REV. DR. CALVIN S. MORRIS
Executive Director, Community Renewal Society; Religious Co-Chair, Chicago Jobs With Justice; Co-convener of the Justice Coalition of Greater Chicago.

Remarks by VIRGINIA LINARES
Virginia Linares is a member of UE Local 1104, whose son recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq with the U.S. military.

COME GET ANSWERS to these critical questions:

. What is the real price that American working people, our
families and our communities are paying because of the U.S.
occupation of Iraq?

. Even if the war is wrong, will it make things worse if the
U.S. pulls out?

. What do Iraqi trade unionists have to say about the
devastating effects of the continuing occupation of their country?

. Having invaded and occupied Iraq, what are our
responsibilities to the Iraqi people?

. What can we do to end the occupation and bring our troops
home now?
