Join the Antiwar Contigent in the 2005 Bud Billiken Parade
This coming Saturday is the 76th Annual Bud Billiken Parade and Picnic. This is largest parade of its kind in the country. More than 1 million people are expected to line the parade route with another 20+ million people viewing it on their television. For more background on the parade please visit:
www.budbillikenparade.com/

Courtesy of Code Pink Women for Peace there will be an antiwar contingent in this year's parade and all supporters of peace and justice are invited to participate and bring whatever signs, banners and visual aids you feel are appropriate. Please be respectful and congnizant of the fact that many of the parade watchers are likely to have friends and family members in the armed forces or will be veterans themselves. Fortunately we will have some veterans and military family members in the contingent with us too. Flyering is not permitted inside of the parade itself but people are invited to flyer along the parade route and at the final picnic destination point. Be sure to dress appropriately (for the weather) and bring sunscreen, water and snacks.

If you would like to march in the antiwar contingent and get across a very important message in a really big way please meet at 39th/Pershing and Oakwood at 11:00 AM SHARP! Parade marshalls will not allow late arrivals to enter the parade. Each float or contingent in the parade is assigned a number and Code Pink's is 172. When you arrive at the meeting point look for people dressed in pink and/or holding signs and banners. You can also tell the parade marshalls that you're looking for the Code Pink contigent - number 172.
