Spanish Vice President Visits Brazil
Rio de Janeiro, Aug 8 (Prensa Latina) Spanish Vice president Maria Teresa Fernandez is beginning Monday a three-day visit to Brazil, as part of a tour of Latin America designed to strengthen relations with this region and talk about the next Ibero-American Summit.


She will meet Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva and several ministers during her visit, with two clear objectives:



"First: to continue our priority in foreign policy, which is strengthening economic and cultural relations with Latin America and Brazil, one of the countries that are really important to us," she told O´Globo daily.



And second, to talk about the Ibero-American Summit to be held in Salamanca, Spain, October 14-15, "in which an agreement between the European Union and MERCOSUR is one of the topics on the agenda. Brazil´s participation is essential," she said.



Lula and Brazilian Vice President Jose Alencar will welcome the Spanish vice president, who will also meet Presidential Civil House Minister Dilma Roussef and Ministers of Social Development, Patrus Ananias; Education, Fernando Haddad, and Finance, Antonio Palocci.
