Update on Court Dates for Anti-War Activists
Today we learned that the July 11th and July 13th court dates for Andy Thayer and Brad Lyttle, respectively, have been postponed, probably until September. The City of Chicago has asked for more time to respond to briefs filed by the activists' attorneys.
Members of the National Lawyers Guild, Chicago Chapter, have been representing most of the activists, taking no pay for their countless hours of legal help. The purpose of the court dates was to have been to examine the constitutionality of the City's use of the disorderly conduct charge to disperse people exercising their 1st Amendment freedoms.
The 9 am, Monday, July 11th trial of Pat Vogel is still on (1340 S. Michigan Avenue, Room 501) as is the 9 am, Thursday, July 14th trial of Andy Thayer on one of his three charges (400 W. Superior Street, 1st court room on your left after you go through the metal detector in the lobby). Please show your support by attending these trials if you can.
