We're building a website that is specifically for the Chicago Gay Pride march this year. By this Friday.....the website will include educational links to finding out about Gay Pride spongers, DIY flyers to print and pass out, a speak-out section for people to rant their thoughts on Pride, and a history of what Gay Pride once was.

THIS IS A COLLABORTIVE SITE! Please send any submissions or thoughts or pictures! Also, please print flyers from the website and pass them out wherever you go this weekend!




Who We Are:

Shame On Pride is a response by a Chicago collective of queers to the increasingly capitalistic, assimilist, and elitist nature of mainstream pride. Because there is no hierarchy of oppression, we refuse to be aligned with an event that ignores poor queers, queers of color, queers who are differently-abled, our transgender family and all other queers facing oppression.


What We Believe:

----Pride should be a radical celebration, based in our activist roots, of how far we've come AND where we need to go.
----Pride should be an all-inclusive event with a full-fledged anti-oppression analysis.
----Mainstream pride//mainstream queer organizations//public gay "leaders" should all be held accountable for their oppressive actions.
----The queer movement should be fighting against this state that seeks to subjugate us, not assimilate into it.
