I can’t be angry as I’m now with this situation. In the third region of Chile is going to run a gold mine, Pascua-Lama, owned by a Canadian corporation called Barrick Gold Corporation. The problem is that to start with it, a part of an ancient glacier has to be removed. It’s technically impossible to do a glacier removal, no one in the world has done this before and the “removal” consists in destroying part of it and throwing the ice in another part of the glacier. The ecological consequences are unmeasurable: a glacier is part of an ecosystem, not just a piece of ice. The third region of Chile is desert area and to recover the glacier by rain, that is located in the mountains, is a process of thousands of years.. Gold extraction requires huge removal of ground and hug amounts of water . All the farmers will be strongly affected by it, because of water pollution. The consequences in the long run are terrible.
How to express your disagreement? Three steps:

b) - Fill the form of the Minning Minister, www.minmineria.cl/pagina.php, and express your disagreement.

c)- And write an email to Mr. Borg., vborg (at) barrick.com , who is the guy of corporate relations of Barrick Gold.
