A weekly 30 minute review of news and opinion recorded from a shortwave radio. Broadcast quality (13.7MB) and quick/streaming (3.5MB) Free to rebroadcast upon notification. Times and freqs for listening at home. Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Cuba, China.
The latest Shortwave Report (October 5) is up on the web at www.outfarpress.com in both broadcast quality (13.7MB/29:55) and quick download and streaming formats (3.5MB). It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you air it, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen, try the streaming version, lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file, it only takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application you have on your computer.
This week's program features Spanish National Radio, Radio Deutsche Welle, Radio Netherlands, Radio Havana Cuba, and China Radio International.
From Spain- Zimbabwe's land reform continues moving forward; the threat of attacks on Afghanistan leads to protests in Afghanistan and Pakistan; a car bomb in Kashmir heightens tensions between India and Pakistan.
From Germany- a European press review on global terrorism; a report on land mines in Afghanistan, one of the most land mine ridden nations on the planet.
From Netherlands- a report from Tajikistan, where military and relief supplies are arriving daily; in Columbia, the corpse of the former culture minister was found, the rebels and the government accuse each other of the murder, and the government military is on maximum alert.
From Cuba- a report on the crisis in Columbia, where the demilitarized zone may be abandoned this Sunday; a viewpoint on the peace process in Columbia; in Venezvuela, the government is moving ahead with a land reform plan; Arab leaders continue their criticism of the American position on the Palestine question, pointing out the influence it has on global terrorism.
From China- two reports on the US/British bombings in Iraq; China rejects the reports that it has received US cruise missles from the Taliban; the Malaysian Prime Minister says a war with the Taliban is not a solution; the Arab League has warned that any attack on an Arab country will undermine the anti-terrorist coalition.
All this plus times and frequencies for listening globally at home. I hope you'll listen and air this if you are connected with a radio station.
And please send me an email if you are airing this program, I need a head count.
I am still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated.
