About 5,000 supporters of embattled workers at Bridgestone/Firestone, Caterpillar and A.E. Staley marched on the viaduct adjacent to the Staley plant on Oct. 15, 1994. The New York Times has reported that most of Firestone's recalled tires were produced during the company's bitter dispute with the URW/USWA from July, 1994 to November, 1996.
