Facts about WTC

The World Trade Center was developed to promote international commerce. The goal was to centralize the activities of private firms and public agencies engaged in world trade. The hope was that the building would facilitate international business contacts among the members of the foreign-trade community.
-- Each day, more than 200,000 people visit the World Trade
Center and 50,000 people work at the complex.

-- The 425,000 cubic yards of concrete used in building the World
Trade Center could build a five-foot wide sidewalk from New
York to Washington, D.C.

-- There are 43,600 windows in the Twin Towers - more than
600,000 square feet of glass cleaned by automatic
window-washing machines.
