On Weds June 2nd the Pro-Life Action League was scheduled to appear at DePaul Universities Lincoln Park campus as a part of their spring "face the Truth" college campus tour.

While they have not shown up at any of the colleges they announced since their stop at UIC, students at DePaul as well as concerned members of the Chicago Community came out to counter-demonstrate against the lies of PLAL.

We had between 20 and 30 people at any given moment, with about 50-60 stopping and holding a sign altogether. There was wide support from the community. We had signs that said "honk for choice" and alot of people were honking- SUV's, school buses, delivery trucks, cars, even a cop car(!).

We met in front of DePaul's student Center at the intersectionn of Belden and Sheffield at noon. After a half hour, when it became clear that the Pro-Lie Action League was not coming, we decided to walk to the intersection of Fullerton and Sheffield. As we walked to that intersection we passed by a DePaul security/public safety officer in her car who commented, "I can't use this car, but honk honk."

Many of the signs were handmade while some were left over from the march for women's lives in DC.

While June 2nd was the last date of their spring tour, the PLAL is still around, and will be continuing their attack on women's right to choice. Watch indymedia for more info on countering them.

Here's a round of applause for everyone who has shown up at any of these college campuses to give PLAL a hard time. We couldn't have done as much as we did without each other. I know that without the other counter-plal demonstrations, then PLAL might have still come to DePaul.

Has anybody heard what happened at U of C that morning?
