Indymedia's May Day Art Party : Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Chicago Indymedia presents Indymedia's May Day Art Party. In commemoration of the Haymarket Martyrs and peoples' struggles around the world, Chicago Indymedia has organized a collectively curated Art Show. The exhibit is to feature experimentation in collective expression according to the themes of workers' rights, peace, and dissent.

The May Day Art Party is to take place on May Day, which takes place on the 1st of May ever since the 1st May Day in 1886 when 90,000 marched in Chicago to demand an eight-hour work day. May Day continues to be celebrated in countries throughout the world. May Day also mocks the one year anniversary of President Bush's infamous declaration of an end to war in Iraq.

The programme will include:
1. a collective photoexhibit
2. spoken word and speakouts
3. videos *
4. Musical guests: Un Voz, special guests TBA

The programme will take place at Polvo Art Studio, 1458 W. 18th St, 1R (entrance on Laflin). Doors open @ 7 p.m. We will be requesting a $5 donation but refusing entrance to no-one.
