US House blames victims for violence in the Middle East

US House of Representatives passes Resolution 426, reaffirming US support for Israel, and blames the victims - Palestinians living under occupation- for violence in the region.

In the wake of Wednesday's House vote, outraged Chicago Arab community residents point out that House representatives Luis Gutierrez, Bobby Rush and Danny K. Davis are all on record taking supportive positions on Palestinian human rights issues in the 1980's, while serving in the Chicago City Council. Apparently all were suffering from profound memory lapses and a deplorable lack of spine yesterday.

Arab community activists are now urging voters in Chicago's Palestinian, Arab and Muslim communities as well as other supporters of Palestinian rights to send a message to those politicians voting in favor of e-mailing, faxing or calling today to protest this betrayal, and turn out the vote for the one progressive Presidential candidate on the Illinois ballot who has taken a stand condemning Israel's war against the Palestinian people.. Green Party candidate Ralph Nader.
