URGENT APPEAL to AMERICAN CITIZENS

Senator Richard Lugar, Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations
Committee, has responded to the Irish Americans Against Extradition
petition.

Senator Lugar has DISMISSED the over 1,400 signatures to date who have
registered their opposition to the US/UK Extradition Treaty as
MEANINGLESS; and has confirmed that the US State and Justice Departments
are moving forward with hearings on this Extradition Treaty now.

Respected human rights attorney Francis Boyle has forwarded us a copy of
his RESPONSE to this reply from Senator Lugar’s office. His letter
details the numerous International laws and Human Rights Treaties that
this draconian Treaty will violate. You can reference this letter with

PLEASE MAKE ONE PHONE CALL TODAY. It will take less than five minutes.


Please phone the offices of your US Sentator(s) =(see link below)= and
let them know that you OPPOSE this draconian and un-American Extradition
Treaty with Britain, that will allow the British Crown to:

· Extradite and imprison any American citizen WITHOUT proof of guilt and
without judicial review
· Build a case for extradition and imprisonment against an American
citizen on the word of a single witness
· Detain in custody and “provisionally arrest” any American citizen for
up to 60 days
· Build a case for extradition and imprisonment even if no US law has
been broken
· Detain, deport and arrest any American citizen for activities taking
place many years ago
· Detain, deport and arrest any American citizen without “prima fasciae”
physical evidence; unsupported allegations will be sufficient
· Seize assets and property of American citizens after they are deported
· Rubbish the “political exemption” clause cherished as an American
liberty and held since Founding Father Thomas Jefferson refused to
extradite an opponent of the French Revolution

We encourage you to leave your name and let it be known that you are a
registered voter. Ask your Senator's office what POSITION your Senator
will take on this issue - let them know YOUR VOTE DEPENDS ON IT.

Remind your Senator’s office that the powerful Irish-American bloc is
opposed to this outrageous US/British Extradition Treaty. Make it
clear that you do not want these State and Justice Department hearings.
Remind your Republican party Senators that if this treaty goes forward,
every Irish American organization across the US Irish-American diaspora
will be working to beat Bush!
