Reclaim The Streets! Summer 2001
(please forward far and wide)

On July 20th, we will be reclaiming the streets of Naperville, Illinois in an all-day street party.

A "Reclaim The Streets!" party is an event where people flood an area, block off traffic, and have an all out impromptu festival.

We'll be doing this for a number of reasons, from anti-consumerism, to fighting for the right to peaceful assembly, to youth liberation and an end to the harrassment and criminalization of young people, and to raise awareness of the boredom and alienation of suburban living. This Reclaim The Streets! will also coincide with the G8 summit in Genoa, Italy.

Most of all, however, we just needed a reason to have a party.

We've got little less than a month and a half before the big day, and we have a lot of organizing and planning to do.

We're looking for musicians, DJ's, and anyone else who can bring their talents to the streets.

We also need people to flyer, poster, and get the word out about this event.

And we definitely need people to add to our legal and medical teams, which will be necessary to keep the police in line.

We could also really use a place somewhere in the west suburban Chicago area to hold public meetings. If you can offer or know of such a place, please let us know as soon as possible.

If you're at all interested in being a part of the Reclaim The Streets! organizing collective, or if you're interested in what this is all about, check out our website at:

See you in the streets!
