Funeral Procession Protests Biotech Food Event at Chicago’s Hyatt
Safe Food Advocates Deliver Coffin to Monsanto

(Chicago) The antibiotech group, GeneWise will be holding a funeral for the world’s food today, June 5, in conjunction with a biotech food conference at the Hyatt Hotel. A funeral procession featuring a coffin will head down Michigan Avenue’s magnificent mile to the biotech food conference at the Hyatt.

WHEN: Tuesday June 5

PROCESSION BEGINS: 11am, Michigan & Chicago

FUNERAL: Noon-1pm, 151 E. Wacker, Hyatt

Monsanto, DuPont the Food and Drug Administration and other biotechnology firms are meeting at the Hyatt today to discuss how to ‘overcome regulatory and public opinion hurdles’ in countries that have banned or are considering banning biotech foods. "Growing and exporting biotech foods is a death sentence to natural foods everywhere, it marks the death of the family farm and the death of biodiversity", stated GeneWise organizer Sophia Suhu.

The Funeral procession for the world’s food will begin at the old Water Tower and proceed south down Michigan avenue to the Hyatt on Wacker Drive. Mourners will be carrying a casket and many baskets of food. There will be a funeral conducted when the procession arrives at the Hyatt.

GeneWise is a grassroot's Chicago based safe food group composed of farmers, citizens and scientists concerned about the impacts of biotechnology and genetically engineered foods on our environment and health.
