Protestors Take Lake Shore Drive on a Ride Against War (photos, 2 of 3)

CHICAGO -- Thu., Mar. 20 (IMC) - Thousands of anti-war and peace protestors rallied at Chicago's Federal Plaza before marching through downtown rush-hour traffic, easily bringing the Lake Shore Drive expressway to a standstill. The marchers' progress was briefly stopped by Chicago police officers on the north end of the Drive's S-curve bridge, then later bottlenecked at 600 N. Lake Shore Drive, and halted at Michigan and Oak. After a half-hour standoff there, marchers went south on the inner drive to Chicago and Michigan, ending with hundreds trapped and arrested by lines of police in riot gear who occupied the intersection.
