Sunday Vigil at Art Institute

Seven pictures from the candlelight vigil by the Art Institute. The Global Vigil for Peace was called for by Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu and aided in organizing this by Move On and the Win Without War Coalition. Over 6869 vigils occurred in 141 countries. I went to this vigil because Joan Baez was playing across the street at Symphony Hall and would come over to visit our vigil. She played with the other musicians there and it was beautiful. There wasn't much fanfare to her and that seemed to speak something. She said some words and left to go to her engagement across the street. As she left some of us kids said "bye Joan", happy that we heard her singing, happy that she came over and was with us. To us I think she represented a peaceful way, a beautiful way.
I don't know if I'm conveying it in words, maybe some of the pictures reflect it. Sadly I did not get a picture of Joan because I don't have a flash and it was too dark.
We also had ten minutes of silence. It was a powerful silence as we could feel the night, the sky, and people in Iraq. I thought about the soldiers in the desert and what they were doing. and us, trying to do what we could. Then we all sang again and everyone sounded good.
