Valentines Day Peace Action (Chicago, USA - 33rd&DanRyan, LSD and North Ave.) Eternal Love Pirates
On Valentines Day, a painting that read “WAR KILLS LOVE” hung above the northbound overpass at 33rd street and the Dan Ryan Expressway during the morning rush hour traffic. ELP returned for the evening rush hour displaying the painting for southbound traffic before heading to the North Ave pedestrian crossing on LSD. ELP was kicked out by the CPD 45 minutes later. The usual urban soundscapes were punctuated with car horns and gestures of support from commuters acknowledging the action. People taking the Redline “el” shared words of peace and a motorist pulled off to get a better look offering friendly words. Evening joggers crossing the foot bridge smiled at the Valentine’s Day message. Love was in the frozen air. Is peace around the corner? Eternal Love Pirates have hope.
