Dear Friends of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers,

Just another reminder for you to MARK YOUR CALENDARS -- FEB. 24 - 28,
2003 -- for the upcoming FAST and CONVERGENCE AT
TACO BELL'S corporate headquarters in Irvine, CA.

Approximately 60 Florida farmworkers and their student, labor,
religious and community allies will begin their historic fast
on Monday, Feb. 24, 2003 outside of the Taco Bell corporate
headquarters in Irvine, CA.

On Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, thousands of allies will join the farmworkers
at the Taco Bell headquarters for a huge day of
music, protest, and solidarity!

The action -- a fast outside one of the world's largest fast-food
corporations -- is a powerful contradiction that will
dramat
ically highlight the injustice of fast-food profits derived, in
significant part, from farmworker poverty. The fast
comes after a year of silence from Taco Bell executives. (Please visit
the Coalition of Immokalee Workers' website -
www.ciw-online.org - for information about the ongoing Taco Bell
Boycott and details of this year's action.)

We invite you to support the Florida farmworkers in one or more of the
following ways:

1) MOBILIZE YOUR COMMUNITY to come to the national gathering in
support of the fasters on Friday, Feb. 28th, at Taco
Bell corporate headquarters (17901 Von Karman, Irvine). Rally to take
place from 11:00 - 4:00 PM.

2) JOIN THE FARMWORKERS at the Taco Bell headquarters to fast for a
day, several days, or the entire week of Feb. 24th.
Encourage others to do the same.

3) ATTEND PICKETS at the Taco Bell headquarters throughout the week of
Monday, Feb. 24th. Scheduled to
take place from
11:00 - 1:00 and 4:00 - 6:00 PM DAILY. Bring your signs, loud voices
and enthusiasm!

4) ATTEND CANDLELIGHT VIGILS at the Taco Bell headquarters throughout
the week of Feb. 24th. To be held DAILY from 7:00 -
8:00 PM.

5) Sign up to volunteer during the week of Feb. 24th, donate materials
(meals for non-fasters, water
and more!), and/or make a financial contribution to the "Taco Bell
Boycott Fast Fund". Contact Damara at
dkluce (at) earthlink.net
to find out how.

6) Endorse the fast and/or Taco Bell Boycott -- Put your
organization's name officially behind the farmworkers' struggle for
just wages and better working conditions. Contact dkluce (at) earthlink.net
if interested.

The farmworkers truly count on your ongoing support in this very
important fight for simple economic justice.

See you out there!
