Taking Back the Jobs of Chicago

Many of the people of Chicago are unemployed, while non-Chicago residents come into Chicago to take the jobs.
Thousands of Chicagoeans are unemployed, while others take their jobs. While thousands of Chicagoeans are unemployed, millions of non-Chicagoeans come into Chicago each day to work. As mayor, I think that the people of Chicago should have first preference in the jobs of their city. According to Chicago's 2003 Revenue budget, the employer's expense tax is 4.00 dollars per employee per month. It is imposed on businesses that employ 50 or more full-time employees to perform their work within the city. Revenue from this tax is expected to be 23.6 million dollars in 2003 as employment levels stabilize.

As mayor of Chicago, I want to see an additional employee head tax of at least 10.00 dollars for all non-residents who come into Chicago to take our jobs. I think that this additional employee head tax will give companies the incentive to hire the people of Chicago.

The people who work in Chicago do not have to pay the increased property taxes, the costly car sticker fees, and the other fees that the people of Chicago have to pay. Also, the income that these non-Chicagoeans earn are taken to their communities where it is spent.

In the past, people have argued that the people of Chicago are not qualified to fill many of the positions in Chicago. I totally disagree with this, because their are many qualified workers in Chicago. Also, as mayor I will create more training programs to train the workers of Chicago.

The people of Chicago should have first preference for the jobs of Chicago. Chicago must hire the people of its city, and not the people who live in, and support other cities.
