Billboard Jam in Chicago

A group calling themselves the Anarchist Media Project was photographed liberating this billboard on the North Side of Chicago this evening. According to the spokesperson, the group is eager to "jam" advertisements all over the city and the midwest. They also hope that people will take up the Anarchist Media Project name and participate themselves. "We are fed up with incessant advertising and the loss of public space. Advertising has become extremely aggressive, especially in the public domain, and we are artistically and creatively attempting to engage the community in a discussion about the politics of public space. Besides, it's fun." One particular passerby was unimpressed. "Vandalism is vandalism", he said. In a discussion with the "jammers", he was unmoved by their arguments. Regardless, the Anarchist Media Project view the alteration a success and hopes Chicago "jams" this summer.
