Peace and Jobs Petitioners were one of more than 30 plus anti-war events that occurred this past weekend of December 7th and 8th. They've actually been out the first Saturday of every month for a year now, as well as the 1st and 3rd of the month down in the loop at State and Madison from 4:30 to 5:30.
This past Saturday I found the colorfully dressed and singingly loud group on the corner of 92nd and Commercial in South Chicago at 11:00 in the morning. "Money for Jobs and Schools not War... Guarantee Social Security... Health Care for all" the threesome chanted, as well as hi-jacking some other Christmas carol melodies for their new lyrics. "Deck the Halls with Peace and Jobs.....Save Social Security....Seniors could get their medicines free... Fa lalalala..la la la la". Signatures were also collected for the Iraq Peace Pledge.
The Peace and Jobs Petitioners extend an open invitation to join them bannering, flyering, petitioning and singing during the holidays. They can be contacted at 773/374-3695.
